Some places become part of who we are.

It began with a simple love for the forest. What started as a place to step away from everyday life slowly became something more meaningful — a place to spend our days outdoors, watch the seasons change and pay closer attention to the life around us.

We began growing things, raising chickens, caring for the land and learning from the wildlife that shares this landscape. Some mornings bring birdsong. Others begin with tracks in the earth or an unexpected visitor on a camera trap.

There is always something happening here, even when nothing seems to be happening at all.

“We didn't set out to create a destination. We simply wanted to live a little closer to the natural world.”

THE SPIRIT OF FOREST EDGE ESTATE

The forest doesn't end at the fence.

The estate sits within a living landscape. Wildlife is not a spectacle here; it is part of the everyday rhythm of the land.

FIELD NOTES / WILDLIFE

Learning who shares the land.

Camera traps, tracks, calls and chance encounters help document the animals that move through the wider landscape. Observations include elephants, leopards, birds and the remarkable rusty-spotted cat recorded through camera-trap work.

The aim is to observe patiently and respectfully — without disturbing the animals or their habitat.

Rooted in nature. Guided by science.

Our six-acre agricultural patch is nearly ready. We are combining practical farming knowledge with science and AI to plan what to grow and when — while respecting the wildlife around us.

THE FARM / EVERYDAY RITUALS

Small things, done with care.

Free-ranging chickens, freshly collected eggs and the quiet work of tending the property give each day its own rhythm. Our new cattle shed is ready, and we look forward to welcoming the first two cows.

Our cattle shed is complete, and we are awaiting our first two cows. The six-acre agricultural patch is nearly ready, with crops and planting schedules being planned using agricultural science, local observations and AI-informed analysis.

We are the visitors here.

The land was theirs long before it was ours. Elephant paths and the movements of other wildlife do not stop at property boundaries. We have deliberately chosen not to install electric fencing. Farming this way brings challenges, but coexistence is central to how we care for the estate. From clearing invasive lantana to documenting wildlife, stewardship remains a continuing practice.

Our six-acre farm is also becoming a place for careful experimentation. We are exploring soil and crop monitoring, sensor-informed irrigation, and natural fertilisation supported by electronics and AI. These systems are ambitions in development, not claims of an already automated farm. Technology should help us understand the land better, not separate us from it.

Notes from the estate.

Small observations, ongoing projects and moments worth remembering. These are sample journal themes; dated entries will be added from the estate's own records and photographs.

The estate journal is being prepared. Field notes and photographs will appear here as they are published.

Some places are best experienced slowly.

Occasionally, Forest Edge Estate welcomes a small number of guests who share a genuine appreciation for wildlife, quiet places and life close to nature.

These are unhurried, privately hosted experiences for people who wish to understand the landscape, not simply pass through it.
